1 lb Fat-trimmed lean beef stew meat in 1/2-inch cubes
1 can (6-oz) tomato paste
2 Onions, finely chopped
2 Bell peppers, seeded and diced
1 -(up to)
2 Cloves garlic, minced
3 -(up to)
4 tsp Chili powder (or combine 1 minced small hot pepper, 2 teaspoons cumin seed or 1 teaspoon ground cumin; and 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
1 tsp Plain cocoa powder, optional

Stir meat and tomato paste together in crockery cooker. Stir in other ingredients (add no water or other liquid). Turn cooker to low heat; cover and cook for 12 hours. Skim, and discard any fat from the surface. Makes 4 servings, 240 calories each.
