Combine water and sugar in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil, and cook 1 minute.
Remove from heat; let cool. Pour sugar mixture into a pitcher; chill. Add lemon juice to sugar mixture; stir well. Yield: 1 quart (serving size: 1 cup).
